オハイオ州クリーブランドのCleveland Museum of Artで、いよいよ「天心」上映です。
ここは、収蔵品70,000点、展示室70を数える全米有数の総合美術館で、日本美術のコレクションは、古代から江戸、近代にまで及び、ボストン美術館やメトロポリタン美術館に匹敵する屈指の規模と質を誇ると言われてます。
今回の上映に併せて、会場では日本美術専門家でキュレーターのSinéad Vilbar氏が解説を行うことになりました。
日本での「天心」も、国立近代美術館はじめ多くの美術館で上映をしてきましたが、映画と美術展とのコラボレーションはいつもお客様に大好評です。

Introduction by curator Sinéad Vilbar
Directed by Katsuya Matsumura. This film dramatizes the life of Okakura Tenshin (1863–1913), an important Japanese art critic, scholar, and writer who defended his country’s traditional art forms during the wave of westernization. CMA Curator of Japanese and Korean Art Sinéad Vilbar, who calls Tenshin “the godfather of Japanese art in the United States,” will introduce the movie at 6:30. Cleveland premiere.
